Being Born
Every year we are renewed, if we have the privilege of meeting another birthday. A birthday is a day for reflecting on what it means to be born and to continue living. Each year, on this day, I like to take time to introspect on what the year has been like, what did I learn, how did I grow. And then to reflect on my hopes and intentions for the future. Allowing myself the space to explore what has been and what I hope will be helps me to glean a sense of meaning from my experiences and a feeling of purpose and agency in what the future holds.
This year has been one of planning and project management, finding ways to establish myself in order to continue growing. It has been challenging to keep my cool and not get sucked into the tornado of anxious thoughts. It has reminded me to trust in the process and surrender my attachment to outcomes. I hope that I can enter this next year with less grasping on to my own expectations and to be open and receptive to the way things unfold. I will continue to practice letting go, visualizing my cells releasing their grip on my attachments and letting myself be buoyed in the ocean of being.
I am a soul being inhabited by a body, let this soul breath this body.
Practice: What are you thankful for from this age? What are you looking forward to from the aging process?
Challenge: Accept where you are in your journey, without labeling it as good or bad, too slow or too fast, accept without judgment exactly where you are.
